ingrid's latest music
Born Ingrid
Wever in upstate New York in the spring of 1972,
the young talent displayed her musical
calling as early as age 8, by performing cello
recitals at high caliber classical
venues such as Eastman Theatre’s Kilbourne Hall
in Rochester, NY, and later at the SUNY artist
series in which she won awards for outstanding
vocal performances. At 15, she left recitals and
competitions to pursue her career in pop and
classic rock, singing and playing at a local piano
bar. As a teen her lead performances in three
local productions of Broadway musicals earned
high praise. Her American musical roots
deepened when Ingrid demonstrated an affinity
for Jazz standards as a member of her collegiate
professional troupe for four years, and later
with the James Jellassic Band in Washington,
DC. After college Ingrid chose to pursue music
full time no matter where it led her, from
singing on the streets in
New Orleans
and Chicago to sharing the stage with jazz
greats Maynard Ferguson, Chip McNeill and
Lisanne Lyons. Influences include Jewel and Sarah Mac
Lachlan but her unique individual style and
dynamic stage presence does not stop there.
While touring with Blues and Diamonds she
covered blues and R&B, yet she made tunes by
Mariah Carey, The Cranberries, and Melissa
Etheridge her own as Token Blonde's lead
rocker. Her passionate
creativity, embodied in a prolific collection of
poems, proves to be a fountainhead from which
provoking lyrics and melodies endlessly merge.
Joining forces with friend and guitar whiz John
Lusk, and long time friend and drummer Mike
Mazzella, her first CD, Sweet Forgiveness, is a
contemporary blend of pop and folk styles. She attributes
moving to Mobile, AL for the muddy sounds of
blues and gospel
which
populate her latest originals on a sophomore
release due out this Fall.
